The Wellness Community offers a wide menu of support services to people with cancer and their loved ones. Services include support groups, stress management sessions, educational programs, exercise sessions and nutrition workshops. At The Wellness Community, people with cancer join with others to learn they are not alone. In doing so, they gain valuable knowledge and coping skills that enable them to find hope and support irrespective of their stage of disease. One of the most important features of our services is that they are all completely free of charge. Anyone who walks through the doors of The Wellness Community is welcomed, and encouraged to participate in any or all that we offer.

The cornerstone of The Wellness Community is the Patient Active Concept. It encompasses the belief that patients who actively participate with their physicians and medical team in their fight for recovery can improve the quality of their lives and may enhance the possibility of their recovery. Whether it is physical, emotional and/or spiritual recovery, all participants can benefit from the dynamic synergy of a healing community. Below are links to specific materials and resources that The Wellness Community provides.  These helpful resources can be found in full at www.thewellnesscommunity.org.

Research
The Wellness Community is involved in national research with partners such as Stanford University and the University of California at San Francisco to demonstrate and publish the positive effects on people affected by cancer by participating in our many programs. Our research team is led by Mitch Golant, PhD, a licensed psychologist. The Goals of our Research Program are as follows:

  • Answer questions about psychosocial support important to people with cancer and the cancer community at large.
  • Develop and modify our programs and services based on evidence and data.
  • Establish The Wellness Community's Patient Active Concept as the gold standard of psychosocial support for people with cancer.
  • Utilize research data to improve training and program delivery.

Interactive Education
In addition to providing free Patient Education booklets and workshops, The Wellness Community provides interactive education materials that include podcasts, webcasts, online CEU courses for nurses, and links to telephone workshops.

The vision of The Wellness Community is to extend our services to all people with cancer and their loved ones. In order to accomplish this, we hope to open centers in many more cities throughout the United States and the world. Most of our centers have begun because someone like you realized that people with cancer and their loved ones can benefit from the support, education, and hope that The Wellness Community offers and they wanted to make those services available in their city. Many of the founders of our local centers are cancer survivors dedicated to helping others in their fight for recovery.

Thank you for your interest in bringing The Wellness Community to your area. We applaud your desire to support and encourage persons diagnosed with cancer as they fight for recovery. It is people like you who make a difference in this world. If you are interested in starting a Wellness Community in your area, we would be delighted to talk to you and send you more information. Please contact Mark Meinke at 1-888-793-WELL or email to mark@thewellnesscommunity.org.
